Warren Smit
Dr Warren Smit is the manager of the CityLab Programme at the African Centre for Cities (ACC) at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He is an urban planner by background, and has worked as a researcher on urban issues since 1993. Warren has worked at the ACC since 2008, where he has managed the ACC’s research programme on Cape Town and has co-ordinated the Healthy Cities CityLab, an interdisciplinary research project on the links between the urban environment and health. One of his main areas of research is the link between urban health, urban planning and urban governance. Warren was the lead writer of the Global Research Network on Urban Health Equity (GRNUHE) working group on urban planning/design and health equity in low- and middle-income countries, and is a contributor to the second WHO/UN-Habitat Hidden Cities report on urban health.
