Olivier de Schutter
Olivier De Schutter teaches at the University of Louvain (UCL) and at SciencesPo (Paris), and has been a visiting professor at Columbia University and at UC Berkeley. Between 2008 and 2014, he was the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food. During this period, he presented a total of 30 reports to the UN General Assembly and Human Rights Council on a range of issues linked to the fight against hunger and malnutrition and to the tools that could achieve a transition to sustainable diets. He is now a Member of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and co-chairs the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food). He is widely published on economic and social rights and on the governance issues linked to the social and ecological transition.
