Mario Herrero
Professor Mario Herrero is Chief Research Scientist and Office of the Chief Executive Science Leader at CSIRO Agriculture. He has more than 20 years experience working on strategic, transdisciplinary R4D projects in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe. A known team player, with an extensive network of partners and donors, he works in the areas of agriculture, food security and global change; targeting and priority setting of investments in the food systems of developing countries, climate change (impacts, adaptation and mitigation), development of scenarios of livelihoods and nutrition futures. He is a regular contributor to the key global food security and climate change initiatives (IPCC 4th and 5th Assessments, World Development Reports, AGMIP and others). He has an extensive publication record and is currently on the editorial boards of Agricultural Systems (Elsevier), Global Food Security (Elsevier), Agriculture and Food Security (BioMed Central) and Tropical Grasslands, and has been a guest editor for the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences journal (PNAS). Mario obtained his PhD from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
