Bagher Larijani
Bagher Larijani is a Professor of Endocrinology and founding Director-General and Chief Scientific Officer of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute (EMRI) of Tehran University of Medical Science (TUMS). His main focus at the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute during the past two decades has been on bridging the gap between basic and clinical research in endocrinology, particularly diabetes and non-communicable diseases, to promote interdisciplinary research which can be translated into enhancement of clinical services as well as policy-making purposes. Dr. Larijani has authored numerous academic articles and is documented as one of the most highly cited authors in the field of endocrinology. He is currently Deputy Chair of the National Supreme Committee for Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases. Dr. Larijani has a research and teaching background in diabetes, osteoporosis, noncommunicable diseases, and medical ethics and has several advisory and steering committee roles with the World Health Organization.
