Prof. Brian Oldfield
Brian Oldfield is a Professor in the Department of Physiology, Monash University. His research interests focus on the understanding of the biology of appetite and body weight control and range from studies of anorexia nervosa to those investigating the mechanisms underpinning the success of bariatric surgery.
He has spent most of his research life as an NHMRC Research Fellow. In addition to his research interests in the way that the brain dictates levels of body weight, he holds a number of positions in national and international organisations through which he attempts to better inform views of the physiological and genetic underpinnings of obesity and issues around weight loss. It is hoped that this elevated level of understanding will help dismantle judgement and stigma often directed to those living with obesity.
