SCOPE School Abu Dhabi
Nov 18, 2024The World Obesity Federation (WOF) is delighted to host its SCOPE School in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
This event will take place directly after the 6th UAE Obesity Conference but is not included in the registration fee and attendees must register for the Scope School separately here.
This is an in-person event only and free to attend. However, there are no scholarships available for hotel and travel and so attendance must be arranged by individuals.
Obesity poses one of the most severe public health challenges of the 21st century in the MENA (Middle East/North Africa) region and is a risk factor for several other non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer.
Over the past few decades, obesity levels have risen significantly in the MENA region. This event aims to educate a diverse audience—including healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, media professionals, and individuals with lived experience—on clinical approaches to obesity prevention and management.
The comprehensive agenda includes discussions on regional roadmaps, the biology of obesity, childhood obesity, pharmacotherapy, lifestyle management, and overcoming barriers to care, ensuring a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to support people living with obesity.
By the end of the School, you will:
- Understand the challenges in obesity management in the MENA region.
- Be aware of the potential complications of people living with obesity.
- Be familiar with the options to prevent and manage people living with obesity.
- Appreciate approaches for personalised (patient-centred) management and the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach.
- Be able to discuss the psychological impact for people living with obesity.
- Be better equipped to support patients living with obesity using a multidisciplinary approach.
- Synthesise key insights and actionable strategies from the School
