On the sidelines of ICO 2024 in São Paulo, Brazil, we invite interested stakeholders to a research-to-advocacy capacity building pre-congress workshop.
Event details
In June 2024, on the sidelines of the International Congress on Obesity in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a consortium of obesity and food policy advocacy organisations invites interested stakeholders to a pre-congress satellite advocacy workshop titled 'Evidence generation to policy action'.
This event is co-hosted by:
- World Obesity Federation,
- Latin American and Caribbean Nutritional and Health Community of Practice (COLANSA),
- Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), and
- International Network for Obesity/noncommunicable diseases Research, Monitoring and Action Support (INFORMAS).
Featuring speakers from the Latin American region and around the world, this half-day workshop aims to share international success stories in food policy advocacy, highlighting the valuable role of evidence and the involvement of researchers/academics along with civil society and other stakeholders. Workshop discussions will focus on identifying key capacities to be built among the research and NGO community to enable more effective influence in policy uptake.
Aims of the workshop
The themes for this workshop include advocacy for policy action, global and and local experiences, lessons, way forward and links to global frameworks for action.
The workshop aims to:
- Share global experiences and lessons in evidence-based food policy advocacy leading to successful policy implementation.
- Discuss how global tools, resources and frameworks for action can support the development of evidence-based advocacy strategies at country level.
