World Obesity’s official relations status renewed by World Health Organization
During the 152nd meeting of the WHO Executive Board, Member States renewed World Obesity’s official relation status and approved a new three-year work plan for collaboration.
World Obesity has a long-standing relationship with WHO spanning over 20 years and is the only obesity-specific organisation with “official relations” privileges. Through the new joint workplan, we will collaborate closely on implementing national action on obesity, support the latest recommendations and Acceleration Plan, collaborate on nutrition and NCD policy guidance, and support capacity building and training amongst healthcare professionals.
Most notably in this period, we will be working closely on supporting the implementation of the new WHO recommendations on the prevention and management of obesity and the Acceleration Plan, where World Obesity will be playing a key role in supporting civil society. In addition to this collaboration, World Obesity also works closely with WHO as part of the Global Obesity Coalition, as well as with the regional offices.
