NewsWorld Obesity launches #FridayFindings: A new weekly spotlight on obesity research and data

The World Obesity Federation is excited to announce #FridayFindings, a new weekly social media feature designed to share cutting-edge research and global data insights that support obesity prevention, treatment, and policy development.

This initiative will highlight impactful findings from our four peer-reviewed journals and provide unique data from the Global Obesity Observatory, reinforcing our commitment to evidence-based solutions for the global obesity epidemic.

Empowering the obesity community with evidence-based insights

Each Friday, #FridayFindings will showcase a diverse range of topics, from the latest in clinical treatments to innovative prevention strategies and global obesity trends. With this initiative, we aim to bridge gaps in knowledge and provide healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, and the public with accessible, up-to-date information on obesity.

“We are thrilled to launch #FridayFindings as a way to make our research and data resources even more impactful,” said Johanna Ralston, CEO of World Obesity. “By regularly sharing insights from our journals and Global Obesity Observatory, we hope to foster a more informed global community dedicated to addressing obesity.”

What #FridayFindings offers

  1. Weekly journal highlights:
#FridayFindings will include summaries of new and impactful articles from each of the Federation’s four journals:
    • Obesity Reviews: The highest-cited obesity journal, focusing on causes, treatment, prevention, and the pathophysiology of obesity and its comorbidities.
    • Pediatric Obesity: Covering critical research on obesity in children and adolescents, an area of growing public health concern.
    • Clinical Obesity: Presenting translational research on obesity management and associated conditions.
    • Obesity Science & Practice: Offering the latest in scientific and medical research to tackle obesity on a global scale.
  2. Global Obesity Observatory data insights:

This may include interactive maps, prevalence data by demographic, economic impact reports, or tools for creating personalised charts. The Observatory’s comprehensive data allows users to explore country-specific information, global trends, and the drivers and consequences of obesity.
  3. Engagement and accessibility:
#FridayFindings posts will encourage readers to engage with resources by exploring interactive tools, downloading reports, or sharing insights on social media. We also invite members and followers to provide feedback, fostering a community of learning and action.

Why #FridayFindings matters

Obesity remains a complex global health challenge, requiring robust data and collaborative efforts across disciplines. The #FridayFindings initiative will provide consistent, reliable information to support the obesity community’s collective knowledge and equip decision-makers with evidence to inform policies and practices.

With rising rates of obesity worldwide, this initiative also recognises the importance of keeping obesity in the global health conversation. Through #FridayFindings, we will reinforce our role as a leading resource for obesity research, data, and solutions, driving impact beyond academia and into practical application.
