World Obesity hosts Stock Conference in Dublin, Ireland!
This month, World Obesity hosted its acclaimed Stock Conference event in Dublin, Ireland – its first in-person event since 2019.
Themed around the genetics of obesity, the conference took place at the Talbot Hotel Stillorgan on 16th and 17th September. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Sadaf Farooqi, Prof. Karine Clement and local host Prof. Carel le Roux, and included a mixture of presentations, breakouts and group discussions. Funded by Rhythm Pharmaceuticals, the event brought together around 40 attendees, who challenged each other on their assumptions about obesity and the best courses for diagnosis and treatment.
Feedback from delegates was overwhelmingly positive, with 100% of attendees rating the conference as ‘Excellent’. One happy delegate summed up the event as a “great meeting, very enjoyable and productive - lovely setting too!”
Whilst the last 18 months have shown numerous benefits to virtual events - including accessibility, the option of live translations and a reduced carbon footprint - this year’s Stock Conference served as a reminder of the role of in-person events, allowing conversations to flow, networking to take place, and old and new faces to be reunited. We look forward to welcoming you to more World Obesity events in 2022 and beyond!
