World Obesity establishes working agreement with the Global Obesity Patient Alliance (GOPA)
World Obesity is delighted to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the Global Obesity Patient Alliance (GOPA), an alliance of patient-led organisations working exclusively within obesity.
The agreement establishes ways in which the two organisations are to work together to amplify the voice of those living with obesity. By establishing a working relationship with GOPA, World Obesity takes a key step towards recognising the importance of patients in all aspects of its work, as well as providing a platform for people living with obesity to shape discussions around obesity.
Both organisations will be aiming to cooperate in a number of ways, by pooling resources, sharing patient stories, contributing to publications, exchanging knowledge and building capacity in organisations that advocate for person-centred perspectives.
GOPA Secretariat Kristy Kuna said of the agreement:
“GOPA is pleased to collaborate with the World Obesity Federation in an effort to ensure that the voice of patients living with obesity is strengthened and amplified. The work of WOF combined with the energy and efforts of GOPA members is essential to igniting and inspiring global change for people living with obesity.”
