World Obesity & EASO Statement on G20 Summit 2018
The number of school-age children living with obesity has risen ten-fold in just four decades, from 11 million to 124 million children globally, and is growing most rapidly in low- and middle-income countries.
Obesity is both a chronic non-communicable disease (NCD) in its own right and is a major risk factor for other NCDs, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, several cancers and psychological disorders later in life. It also imposes a growing burden on societies and economies.
