WHO Europe launch manual on brief interventions for NCD risk factors in primary care

NewsWHO Europe launch manual on brief interventions for NCD risk factors in primary care

WHO Europe has launched a new manual on integrated brief interventions in primary care to reduce risks of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) as part of its BRIEF project.

The manual emphasises an integrated approach to brief interventions, addressing the physiological risk factor of increased body mass index (BMI) and the major behavioural risk factors, including tobacco use, alcohol consumption, unhealthy eating and physical inactivity. It also provides specific advice for the actual delivery of brief interventions by primary care providers or multidisciplinary teams in clinics and other health facilities.

This manual is an integral part of the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases BRIEF project.
