SCOPE National Fellowship awarded to Dr Liisa Tolvanen
Congratulations to Dr Liisa Tolvanen, Sweden, who has been awarded SCOPE National Fellowship.
Dr Tolvanen is a registered dietitian with special competence in adult obesity.
Dr Tolvanen holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Medical Science and a Master of Science with a Major in Public Health Science. In addition, she is a cognitive behavioural therapist with expertise in motivational interviewing. She is dedicated to enhancing the care and treatment provided to individuals with obesity.
Dr Tolvanen practices as a clinical dietitian at the Center for Obesity, Academic Specialist Center in Region Stockholm. In addition to her clinical duties, she supervises students and delivers lectures on obesity management to both students and healthcare professionals. She is a researcher affiliated with Karolinska Institutet. Her research interests include obesity, obesity management, nutrition, eating competence, recurrent weight gain, and primary care follow-up after metabolic and bariatric surgery.
She is a member of the European Specialist Dietetic Network for Obesity Committee (ESDN Ob) under the European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians (EFAD) and serves on the Integrated Health Committee of the European Chapter of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO-EC IH).
In addition to her clinical and research roles, she is a board member of the Obesity and Bariatric Surgery Sections of the Swedish Association of Clinical Dietitians (DRF) and an active member of the National Working Group for Obesity Care in Sweden. Her experience and involvement in both clinical and research settings contribute to her valuable role in advancing obesity care and treatment strategies.
