OBCT General Assembly: A milestone gathering in Madrid

In November 2024, over 40 participants from the OBCT Project convened at the Ministry of Health in Madrid for the inaugural General Assembly.

This two-day event brought together researchers, policymakers, and health professionals from across Europe, all united by the project’s ambitious goal: tackling the complex biological, sociocultural, and environmental factors driving obesity.

The agenda featured a mix of updates, strategy sessions, and cross-work package discussions. Participants shared progress on key workstreams, including mapping obesity trends, exploring SEP-dependent pathways, and advancing policies for sustainable obesity prevention. Breakout sessions provided an opportunity to dive deeper into collaboration, while reflections from advisors offered valuable insights to guide the project's next steps.

The meeting highlighted the strides made in this Horizon Europe-funded initiative, as well as the challenges ahead in addressing obesity within low socioeconomic communities.
