Dr Abd Tahrani awarded SCOPE International Fellowship
Congratulations to Dr Abd Tahrani, who has been awarded an International Fellowship by SCOPE (the Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education)
Dr Tahrani is a National Institute for Health Research Clinician Scientist at the University of Birmingham, UK. He has made significant contributions to the field of obesity medicine both academically and clinically, having worked closely with ASO, EASO, patient groups and policy makers to improve the training of clinicians in weight management and improve patients’ access to treatment options. He has published extensively on obesity and its complications, and co-authored the SCOPE module 'Managing the Complicated Patient' which focuses on the role of the multidisciplinary team. He is regularly invited to speak obesity at leading conferences and events including SCOPE Schools.
In recognition of his achievements, Dr Tahrani has now been awarded a SCOPE International Fellowship by the World Obesity Federation. This is the most prestigious award offered by SCOPE and recognises world-class expertise in the field of obesity management.
Dr Tahrani told us: "I am honoured and privileged to be recognised as a SCOPE International Fellow by the World Obesity Federation. SCOPE played an important role in my training and the training of many in the field of obesity. And it was an immense pleasure to contribute to SCOPE via SCOPE Schools and the online modules. Also, SCOPE gave me a great opportunity and a platform to meet many of the leading experts in the field of obesity internationally who became later collaborators and friends. SCOPE played a central role in training many obesity experts globally and I will continue to work with my colleagues and friends to improve obesity training and health care delivery."
We would like to express our gratitude to Dr Tahrani for his invaluable contribution to obesity medicine. For more information on SCOPE and our Fellowship programme, please visit the link below!
