2023 in review: The All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity (AIAARO)

The All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity (AIAARO) culminated a successful year with the Obesity India 2023 congress held in Nagpur.

Prof Louise Baur, World Obesity president, addressed the congress with a talk on obesity prevalence and challenges in India, with a range of national and international speakers contributing throughout the day. The event was hosted in collaboration with Diabetes Care Foundation of India.

AIAARO representatives were also involved in the 76th Regional Committee of WHO South East Asia Region (https://www.worldobesity.org/news/world-obesity-in-india-urges-action-to-meet-un-sustainable-development-goals), calling on obesity action, including universal health coverage, as a necessary step in meeting UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Elsewhere, AIAARO has been involved in national and international meetings and research activities throughout the year.
