2023 in review: Romanian Association for the Study of Obesity (ROSA)
The Romanian Association for the Study of Obesity (RASO), the principal scientific medical organisation dedicated to obesity in Romania, culminated a busy year with a series of events this autumn.
In October, RASO celebrated its annual congress in the university city of Lași, featuring speeches and contributions from medical professionals in Romania and further afield, including EASO President-Elect, Prof. Volkan Yumuk.
The event also featured a strong contribution from lived experience networks, more specifically the European Coalition for People living with Obesity (ECPO), emphasising the need to place the patient centre stage when formulating treatment guidance or pressing for recognition of obesity as a disease. You can read EASO's report on the event here.
In November, RASO President ,Dr Laura Mihalache, spoke at the National Congress of the Romanian Federation of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases, held in Cluj-Napoca. The Congress featured a number of sessions on obesity, diabetes and related metabolic diseases.
